There is a fifth dimension, beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the... the... The Camping Trip!!!
Na-noo na-noo fellow campers,
The fourth of July trip has come and gone. Our friend Tom W has once again come through and sent us a wonderful array of joyous photos capturing the festivities. I have mixed in a few of my own and they have all been resized and posted for you immediate viewing pleasure on the Fourth of July Pictures Page. The trip was a huge success. This fourth of July, we set a new milestone. This was the largest Fourth of July trip in the last ten years. As a matter of fact, this was THE largest Fourth of July trip we have ever had. Including visitors and friends camping elsewhere on the grounds (RV camping), we had a total count of 114 friends. WOW!!!
We had decent weather. We were hit with a little rain during the trip. It usually managed to hold off until we set our chairs up for the big meetings though. :) The campground, once again, hosted another fantastic fireworks show. To our surprise, we had a little flashlight Morse code action going with some hikers who were watching the shows from up on the Appalachian trail clearing. As it turned out, they were part of our crew. From the stories I heard, the view was fantastic. They were able to watch many fireworks displays simultaneously...
On Saturday, the campground also hosted a fire truck ride for the kiddlies and a great mini-rodeo. There was also yet another fishing contest and horseshoe tournament. All in all, there was plenty to do on the campground (if you felt like hanging close to "home").
If you felt like a little travel, there was the Appalachian trail hike, rafting on the Delaware and several trips to Columcille (see some pics on the site).
But, the best was not the multitude of activities. The best part of the entire weekend was the fellowship. There were some amazing meetings, inspirational conversations and many great times to be had with the friends we may only get to see but once a year. If you missed out on the Fourth, the Labor Day trip is only 48 days and 6 hours away. Flyers and registration forms are also available for download on the web site. For those friends who have not been around lately, you are dearly missed and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
Have a great 24.
