WHAT: An alkathon is an event sponsored by AA to help alcoholics stay sober. They are often held on holidays when the temptation to drink is strong due to culture, habit and family pressures. Speaker meetings will be held around the clock with breaks in between for fellowship and refreshments. There are no dues or fees for this event but donations are welcome. All AA’s are invited, especially the newcomer.

Lots of natural and cultural history. Duration of hike will be determined that
day according to group’s interests. Meet at Athol High School parking lot, near junction
of Rt. 2A and Rt. 32 We will carpool to the Quabbin from there.

Mt. Watatic:
Approximate 2.5 mile moderate to strenuous hike with great scenic views in all directions.
See three states. Meet at the Mt Watatic parking lot off of Rt. 119 in Ashburnham
(look for small sign that says “Mid State Trail”)
There are some fairly steep sections to climb, please keep this in mind when considering this hike.
October 4th –
5th Annual Mt Wachusett Hike & Meeting:
A moderate hike with great views. Early foliage viewing.
Discussion Meeting at noon, picnic lunch & drinks provided ($3 donation for lunch).
Meet at the Visitors center for the Wachusett Mt. State Reservation center.
Entrance is ¼ mile past ski area on right. Some sections of the trail are very rocky
with a few short steep sections on the easier route, please wear appropriate footwear.
☺ All hikes start at 9:30 A.M. Rain dates are on the Sunday following.
☺ Bring appropriate hiking gear: such as sturdy boots, water, snacks, lunch, bug spray, tissue, camera etc.
☺ Dress for the weather, time of year and type of hike
☺ Meeting to be held weather and time permitting
☺ Have fun!
Please adhere to the above requirements, especially for the longer or more strenuous hikes. These are not just suggestions.
